September 2017

NEW YORK, September 27, 2017 – Snowden Lane Partners, an independent, advisor-owned, wealth advisory firm dedicated to providing client-focused advice in a values-driven culture, today announced that Kevin Guth, Senior Partner and Managing Director in New Haven, CT, and Alex Bryer, Senior Partner and Managing Director in Bethesda, MD, have been named to the 2017 Financial Times 401 Top Retirement Plan Advisors.
Each year, the FT in collaboration with Ignites Research selects the top financial advisors that specialize in defined contribution (DC) retirement plans. Previously, the FT named Snowden Lane to its elite FT 300 list as one of the top RIA firms in the U.S. for the third consecutive year.
“We couldn’t be happier to see Kevin and Alex featured among fellow elite advisors,” said Rob Mooney, Snowden Lane’s Managing Partner and CEO. “Since our firm’s inception, our philosophy has been to provide an experience that highlights our values and puts our clients first and we’re fortunate to work with category leaders that help realize these core beliefs.”
Since its founding in 2011, Snowden Lane has rapidly built a national brand, attracting top industry talent from Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, UBS, J.P. Morgan and Wells Fargo. The firm, which has more than $3.6 billion in client assets and offices in San Antonio, TX; Pasadena and San Diego, CA; New Haven, CT; Pittsburgh, PA; Baltimore, Salisbury and Bethesda, MD; as well as its New York City headquarters.
“Providing quality, professional advice and service to clients is what Snowden Lane is all about,” said Guth. “Our firm is re-defining client-focused wealth advice and it’s an honor to receive this acknowledgement for the work we do.”
Added Bryer: “I’m of course thrilled, but also humbled to be recognized for the outstanding performance of our entire team and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to keep Snowden Lane a leader in the independent wealth advisory marketplace.”
This is the third annual FT 401 list, produced independently by the FT in collaboration with Ignites Research, a subsidiary of the FT that provides business intelligence on asset management.
Financial advisors from across the U.S. applied for consideration, having met a set minimum of requirements. The applicants were then graded on seven criteria: DC assets under management (AUM); DC AUM growth rate; specialization in DC plans; years of experience; advanced industry credentials; compliance record and DC plan participation rate. There are no fees or other considerations required of advisors who apply for the FT 401.
The final FT 401 represents an impressive cohort of elite advisors: the “average” adviser in this year’s FT 401 has 19 years of experience advising DC plans and manages $1.6 billion in DC plan assets. The FT 401 advisors hail from 38 states and Washington, D.C., and DC plans on average account for 74% of their total assets under management.
