Independent wealth advisory firm Snowden Lane Partners has added San Antonio, Texas-based Strategic Management Group, boosting the firm’s client assets by $150 million.
The addition marks the firm’s first office in the southwest and ninth location in the US. The new team will be led by former Merrill Lynch senior vice president, Larry Barocas.
Barocas is joining Snowden Lane as senior partner and managing director, accompanied by Debbie Ury who worked with him at Merrill Lynch as vice president, analyst and relationship manager.
Barocas has been a financial advisor since 1998 and joined Merrill Lynch in 2009. He works primarily with high-net-worth individuals and non-profits and provides family office services.
Ury joined Merrill Lynch in 1981 and primarily focuses on bespoke, long-term financial planning. She worked for the firm in St. Croix as a financial advisor for six years before returning to the continental US and partnering with Barocas.
‘The Strategic Management Group represents a key move for Snowden Lane as we continue to expand our national footprint with seasoned talent that makes our independent model as strong as it’s become,’ said Snowden Lane chief executive and managing partner, Rob Mooney.
‘We’ll add more advisors in San Antonio and Larry’s team represents another step forward as we continue to execute on our plans for 2017 and beyond.’
Established in 2011, Snowden has lured recruits from Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, UBS and Wells Fargo.
